📖 Introduction: Scheduled backup in Onlime
The Onlime app for Windows and Mac can back up your files continuously to the cloud in Onlime – you decide how often. For example, you can set backup to occur Continuously or Every day to suit your needs.
1. Open Backup in the Onlime app
Go to Backup in the left-hand menu.
Find Backup will occur above your list of existing backup folders.
Click the dropdown menu to see the options for scheduled backup.
2. Choose how often you want to back up
Choose the setting that best suits how often you want your files secured.
Choose Continuously, Hourly, Daily, or On a custom schedule.
If you choose a custom schedule, you will be asked to select specific days and times for running the backup.
✅ Onlime will automatically follow the new setting and perform backups accordingly.
Good to know
🔄 We recommend backup 'Continuously' or 'Hourly'
By default, scheduled backup is set to Hourly. This provides a good balance between securing your files regularly while saving your computer's resources. If you choose Continuously, your files are backed up as soon as Onlime detects that the files have been changed on your computer. Continuously can therefore cause issues for Onlime when backing up files – for example, when large project files are already open and being accessed by a program.
ℹ️ Check the backup status of your folders
You can easily check the backup status of the folders you have added to Onlime. Click on a folder to see details such as: number of scanned files, number of transferred files, transfer size, and backup history.
🛑 Pause your backup
If you need to temporarily stop backups in Onlime, you can quickly pause them instead of changing the setting for your scheduled backup.
💻 Onlime must run in the background
It is essential that the Onlime application always runs in the background on your computer. If the app is completely closed, it cannot perform the scheduled backup of your files. You will see the Onlime icon in the menu bar on Mac and in the taskbar on Windows (often hidden behind the small arrow near the clock that hides background apps).
